Michael's musical theatre and operetta experience spans two decades. He brings top notch musicianship, energizing vocals, and solid acting chops to every performance. Recent roles include Eisenstein in THE BAT (Carnegie Mellon), Riley in PARADE (Yale Dramat), and Chino in WEST SIDE STORY (Yale), as well as several new musical premieres.

In addition to his vocal performance work, Michael Protacio is no stranger to the world of stage and screen. SAG-AFTRA eligible since age 9, Michael has performed for NBCUniversal and Twentieth Century Fox Films, as well as in promotion for Yale University.

Ever since his first true "acting" role as Toby, the mute love interest in Gian-Carlo Menotti's The Medium, Michael has brought a love of character and an intense respect for subtext and detail to his work on the stage. Regarded as a charismatic and seasoned performer, Michael is also a frequent public speaker and presenter.

Michael has trained at HB Studio and under Yale and Yale School of Drama faculty in acting for Shakespeare, musical theater, as well as for the operatic stage, and he has received advanced stage combat training in hand-to-hand and fencing. He has also received dance training in modern, jazz, and Horton technique.

Michael Protacio is a lyric tenor known for his warm, dynamic voice and captivating stage presence. He has appeared frequently as a lead operatic tenor in Pittsburgh, as a soloist in New York City, and in professional opera ensembles from Norfolk's Harrison Opera House to New York's Carnegie Hall.

Michael is also committed to the promotion of new music, having performed in the premieres of several new musicals and operas, including a live operatic film soundtrack and the world's first VR horror opera film. Most recently, Michael appeared in three consecutive lead roles at Carnegie Mellon University School of Music.

Michael completed his MM in Vocal Performance at CMU School of Music in 2017, where he studied under Maria Spacagna. Michael earned his BA from Yale 2014.
