Dubrovnik, Croatia

What a change in scenery from one airport to the next! The aerial vista as we landed in Dubrovnik was already beautiful. The view as we rode to the hotel proved we were in for a treat.

Our rooms were not in the hotel proper but in the spacious residences (above)--huge apartments in villas with terra cotta roofs, like the rest of Dubrovnik's buildings.

On the first day, we just relaxed by the pool, worked out, then waited excitedly for our complimentary dinner buffet later that evening. But first Julian and I had a big lunch with a gorgeous view while we waited.

After dinner, the whole group chilled in our apartment (Max, Brandon H., Julian, and mine) and played a crazy game of assassins/mafia. I've played it with classmates at Kemps Landing, but this was on a whole new level of strategy.

The next day we went into Dubrovnik's old town, a walled city that reminded us in many ways of Bermuda's forts.

Afterwards, Brandon L. and I explored the city for an hour or so, touring Dubrovnik's cathedral, finding a Jesuit church, and finally discovering a beautiful rocky outcropping through a door in the wall, and just sitting by the sea for a while.

We regrouped and took a cablecar to the top of the nearest hill, overlooking all of the city and the sea. Then, it was back to the hotel via a water shuttle.

We sang a concert in front of the gorgeous sunset (photo of our sound check above) and then ate our hearts out at the dinner buffet before packing up for a 4:45am departure for Paris!
